Good Evening Wahoos! Congratulations goes out to our highest CandyMan Sellers! Our first place winner was Lauren Sharpe and our second place winner was Karter Evans. Both of these students won cash prizes! Bralyn Battle won the pig race, so he also won a prize. Thank you to everyone who contributed and sold items to help raise money for our school! This upcoming Thursday is early release. Our students get out at 1pm. If your child is a bus rider, please be at the bus stop 2 hours earlier than normal. This Thursday we will also have another Parenting Partners Session from 8:30am to 10:30am at school. Parents if you are interested in how to help your child at home with academics, discipline, communication, and structure, please plan on attending our session. This Friday is a holiday; therefore, our students will not be in school on this day. We are celebrating Veteran’s Day. Thank you to all of our family members, friends, and community members who have served in the military. Thank you for our Freedom! Last but not least, we are calling on all of our Father figures. Our PTO is hosting a Father Figure Glow Party next Friday, November 17th from 6-8pm in our school’s gym. We will have music, food trucks, dancing, and glow sticks. Students can purchase larger glow sticks for $1 at the door. This is going to be a fun night that you will not want to miss! This event is just for our WAVE students and their father figures. A flyer will be going home this week with your child! We also have a flyer posted on our school’s website and facebook page. I hope everyone has a wonderful evening!

Good Evening, This Thursday from 5:30-7:30pm, some of our staff members will be on campus hosting a Parenting Partners workshop. During this workshop, we will discuss the following topics: Positive Parenting and Creating Confident Kids. Parenting partners is a workshop combining parenting and leadership skills so that parents become vital contributors to their child's success. We would love to have all of our parents attend. We will have pizza available for those who can attend.

Good Evening Wahoos! Here are your weekly updates for Winstead Avenue. This is a reminder that tomorrow is picture day. We will use these pictures for our yearbook. You can pre-pay or wait and see your child’s proofs before ordering. Tomorrow, report cards will also be available online. You can check your child’s e-mail or your parent portal to see their grades. They will be available online for 7 days. Teachers will send home a hard copy of your child’s report card in their weekly folder. On Tuesday, students can wear their costumes, however, we ask that they do not wear masks or a lot of face paint. We do not want to disrupt the classroom’s learning environment. This Friday is our CandyMan main event for our students who sold enough items to attend. Last but not least… Dad’s and/or father figures, please mark your calendar for Friday, November 17th. Our PTO will be hosting a father/kid dance. More information will be going home on a flyer this week. I hope everyone has a great end to their weekend. The ECPS and NCPS Demerger/Transition Plan Team convened on Monday, October 16, for a joint meeting. They delivered presentations to the Nash County Public Schools Board of Education, Nash County Board of Commissioners, Edgecombe County Public Schools Board of Education, and Edgecombe County Board of Commissioners during the meeting. The submission of the transition plan to the state is scheduled for November 15.

Good Evening Wahoos! This is a reminder that this week is Red Ribbon Week, where schools across the country highlight the importance of living a drug-free life. To celebrate, our students and staff can dress up daily, but please know that this is optional. You do not need to go out and purchase anything new for these days. Monday is hat day. Tuesday is Favorite Character day. Wednesday is School Spirit wear. Thursday is Western Wear. Friday is wear red. A flyer showing these dates with more descriptions is available on our website and Facebook page. Also, this Tuesday we are inviting our students to come trick or treat with us from 6-7pm. We will have some educational handouts as well for the students to work on at home. If you are able and willing to donate candy to your child's classroom, I am sure the teachers would greatly appreciate it! This Tuesday we will have our first PBIS celebration at school for our students who have not had an office referral this year or three parent phone calls home due to behavior. We celebrate our students at the school level every 9 weeks. Teachers have daily and weekly awards that they provide students throughout the year. This Friday our Kindergarten students will be attending their Hillridge Farms field trip. If you have not done so already, please send in your child’s permission slip and pay the $25 fee online. If your child is in second grade and are in Ms. White, Mrs. Wilson, or Senora Luz’s homeroom, your child will be attending a field trip to Barton College this Friday as well. Please make sure you have sent in your child’s permission slip if you have not done so already. If your child is in a different homeroom, they will be attending Barton at a later date. Our first graders had a blast this week while participating in an extension activity from Wit& Wisdom where students rotated to and from different classrooms learning about how children in various countries receive their library books. The following countries were discussed: Finland, Canada, Zimbabwe, Australia, Pakistan, Thailand, England, Kenya, and Indonesia!
