Attendance Policy

In order to be considered in attendance, a student (excluding hospitalized/homebound) must be present in the school for the school day or at a place other than the school with the approval of the appropriate school official for attending an authorized school activity. Such activities may include field trips, athletic contests, student conventions, or any similar approved activities.

Absences/Make-up Work

When a student is absent from school, upon arriving back, the student must bring a note explaining the nature of the absences. The student is to give the note to their first period teacher who will turn it into the office. Students are expected to make up any work missed due to absence from a class. Regardless of whether the absence is excused or unexcused, all makeup work must be completed within 5 days of returning to school. It is the student’s responsibility to get all assignments that were missed due to an absence. Students who are suspended may make up work and are responsible for contacting their teachers to get missing assignments. Any student who has been absent more than 10% of a semester and passed the course must submit an attendance waiver at the end of the semester. The waiver committee will review and determine if the student will receive credit for the course.

Academics, Grading, Activities

High school courses are primarily limited to the core high school course requirements (English, Mathematics, History, and Science). Elective credit towards a student's high school diploma typically comes from college courses. All students are required to take a BRIDGE Enhancement elective each semester.
