Parent Engagement Plan
2024-2025 ________ CITI HIGH PARENTAL ENGAGEMENT PLAN
Sections 1118 of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) requires the involvement of parents of participating children in the design and implementation of Title I projects. NCPS Policy 1310/4002 requires every Principal to develop a Parent Engagement Plan as well. A local educational agency may receive funds under this part only if such agency implements programs, activities, and procedures for the involvement of parents in programs assisted under this part consistent with this section. Such programs, activities, and procedures shall be planned and implemented with meaningful consultation with parents of participating children. Reference: Policy Code: 1310/4002 Parental Involvement
Describe the programs, activities, and procedures established to build the schools’ and parents’ capacity for meaningful parental involvement.
1. Each school under this part shall convene an annual meeting, at a convenient time, to which all parents of participating children shall be invited and encouraged to attend, to inform parents of their school’s participation in Title I (if applicable) and the right of the parents to be involved. School Improvement Plan goals and Student Accountability and Promotion Standards.
Describe: At the August Parent Open House, administration will share Title I budget and information and gain input from the parent group. Each year an open house is held the week before students arrive and a parent night is held in September to introduce parents to the staff and invite parents to volunteer. Parents are notified of the meeting by the school in Spanish and English through social media, mass communication calls and emails. During this meeting the principal shares the parent's right to know and the Title I budget for the upcoming school year. Parents are also invited to attend monthly leadership team meetings as well as join our Parent Advisory Council.
2. Each school shall offer a flexible number of meetings, such as meetings in the morning or evening, and may provide, with Title I or Local funds, transportation, child care, or home visits, as such services relate to parental involvement. Plan to ensure two-way communication and parents input in school decisions.
Describe: The school leadership team and PBIS team, which includes a parent, meets monthly with the administration. Teacher-parent conferences are required during the 1st nine weeks of both semesters. Teachers are flexible with parent conference times to meet the needs of our working parents. Phone conferences are also utilized. Calendars are provided monthly in advance of all activities and translators are provided for our ESL population. There is a parent night scheduled the night before all progress reports and resort card distribution dates.
3. Parents should be involved in an organized, ongoing, and timely way, in planning, review, and improvement of schoolwide programs, including the planning, review, and improvement of the school parental involvement policy and the joint development of the schoolwide program plan (if applicable). Plan to promote parent involvement in the form of volunteering.
Describe: We will continue to convene monthly Parent Advisory Council meetings. PAC members are invited and encouraged to attend leadership meetings. During all parent meetings, a survey/exit ticket is completed to encourage parents to make suggestions and recommendations for the Title I program and the school as a whole. These are completed anonymously. CITI has an open door policy, allows parents to meet with administration as needed, and accepts input willingly.
4. Parents must be provided with timely information about programs under this part; and a description and explanation of the curriculum in use at the school, the forms of academic assessment used to measure student progress, and the proficiency levels students are expected to meet. Plan for promotion of resources to aid parents in understanding their child’s academic performance.
Describe: Parent workshops will be conducted each month to focus on information that will assist parents with understanding the learning process for their students. Assessment data from all assessments (report cards, progress reports, benchmark, etc.) are given to parents in a timely manner.
5. If requested, schools must provide parents opportunities for regular meetings to formulate suggestions and to participate, as appropriate, in decisions relating to the education of their children, and respond to any such suggestions as soon as practicably possible.
Describe: The School Improvement plan is developed and voted on by the school's leadership team which includes parent representation. Parents can address their child's individual needs through MTSS/BAIT, IEP and 504 meetings. CITI has an open door policy for all suggestions and concerns.
6. If the schoolwide program plan (if applicable) is not satisfactory to the parents of participating children, the school is required to submit any parent comments on the plan when the school makes the plan available to the LEA.
Describe: Parents have an opportunity to submit suggestions for the plan and the budget prior to the beginning of each school year. The SIP is posted on the website for parents to review and make any comments or suggestions. The SIP is reviewed and voted on when any revisions are made. Revisions to the SIP are shared and discussed during parent meetings throughout the year.
7. Each school shall have a voice in the development with parents a school-parent compact that outlines how parents, the entire school staff, and students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership to help children achieve State standards.
Describe: The Student-Parent-Staff compact was reviewed with and revised based on feedback from Principals, Central office, the Teacher Advisory Committee, the Parent Advisory Committee, the Principal Advisory Committee, and the Student Advisory Committee. Parents, students and teachers discuss and sign the compact communicating expectations and commitment in achieving academic goals. The compacts are provided in each student’s handbook.
8. LEAs and schools shall provide assistance to parents of children, as appropriate, in understanding such topics as the State’s academic content standards and State student academic standards, State and local academic assessments, the requirements of Title I (if applicable), and how to monitor a child’s progress and work with educators to improve the achievement of their children. (Specific actions regarding grading, expectations, and promotions.)
Describe: CITI administration and staff will provide opportunities for parents to become involved in the academic requirements and progress of their children through open houses,parent conferences with translators if needed, IEP and 504 conferences, student agendas, parent groups and ongoing assessment reports.
9. Parents will be provided materials and training to help them to work with their children to improve their children’s achievement, such as literacy training and using technology, as appropriate, to foster parental involvement. Parents must also be provided information that promotes student health awareness. Parents must be provided an opportunity to participate in parental training. (A minimum of one event per semester, that aligns with Parent Engagement Plan, School Improvement Plan, and/or Discipline Data Survey Data. The event must detail how it aligns.)

10. LEAs and schools are required to establish communication protocols that identify methods for communication, timeline expectation regarding responding to communication requests that are shared with teachers, parents, pupil services personnel, principals, and other staff. Appropriate training is provided as needed.
Describe: CITI utilizes migrant education coordinators to make home visits. All CITI staff members are required to participate in PBIS training and attend parent meetings. Our leadership team has parent representation to gain knowledge and offer suggestions on how to close the gap between school and home. Students are also offered random prizes for responding to newsfeeds in Apptegy.
11. Schools should have a plan for coordination with feeder schools to assist parents with transitions (PreK to Kindergarten, 2nd to 3rd, elementary to middle, middle to high, high to postsecondary).
Describe: The school counselor will provide parent resources. The school social worker and psychologist can also provide resources to help parents. If parent needs are not met with onsite materials, information for outside resources and agencies will be provided. CITI High holds enrollment conferences with students prior to their enrollment date. All New Students also attend Summer Bridge before the school year begins.
12. LEAs and schools shall ensure that information related to school and parent programs, meetings and other activities is sent to the parents of participating children in a format and, to the extent practicable, in a language the parents can understand.
Describe: Bilingual communication is shared with parents in both English and Spanish about resources and activities happening throughout the school year. Whenever necessary, we coordinate services with appropriate stakeholders such as the ESL/Spanish Coordinator Interpreter. The Spanish teacher assists students/parents who need translation.
13. In carrying out the parental involvement requirements, the LEA and school shall provide full opportunities for the participation of parents with limited English proficiency, parents with disabilities, and parents of migratory children, including providing information and school reports required under section 1111 in a format and language parents understand.
Describe: Resources are available to include all parents in the education of their children. LEA funding provides resources for interpreters and additional community resources such as the migrant center.
14. LEAs and schools have established dates and topics to improve parent engagement using district approved curriculum. Describe how your school will meet this criteria.
Describe: CITI will be sharing Si4 resources with families at any parent night. (minimum 1/semester).
15. Please list any businesses or community-based organizations that will partner in parent involvement activities.
Describe: CITI student services work closely with assigned community-based organization, such as CIS, BeCalm, I Define Me, SEL behavioral health companies to coordinator appropriate services to assist with addressing student needs. Referrals and collaborative meetings are held to plan and develop student centered care plans to students and their families. In addition, partnerships with local churches and organization are maintained to help provide student/parent engagement and support.
16. Parents may be involved in the development of training for teachers, principals, and other educators to improve the effectiveness of such training. How will you use your Fam-Ambassadors to promote family engagement this school year?
Describe: Fam-Ambassadors can be used to help facilitate training for the staff in how to communicate effectively and address the needs of the families and students. CITI also has parent representation on the School Improvement Team which meets monthly.
17. Describe how your Title I or Local funds will be used to pay reasonable and necessary expenses associated with local parental involvement activities, including transportation and child care costs, to enable parents to participate in school-related meetings and training sessions.
Describe: Food, daycare, supplies, and potential vouchers will be purchased to help provide support to parents and their participation in school wide functions.
18. LEAs and schools may arrange school meetings at a variety of times, or conduct in-home conferences between teachers or other educators who work directly with participating children, with parents who are unable to attend such conferences at school, in order to maximize parental involvement and participation.
Describe: School social worker assists the school with home visits as needed. Teachers plan conferences with parents and participate by phone if necessary.
19. How will your school ensure that they have representation at district monthly parental advisory council meetings? What is the protocol for sharing information?
Describe: The district's Parent Advisory Council provides parents with opportunity to give input on instructional programs. The CITI PAC representative reports information back to the school level and other parents during our monthly meetings.

Center for Industry, Technology, & Innovation (CITI) High School
PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT POLICY
The Center for Industry, Technology & Innovation (CITI) High School will encourage parents to volunteer and become active in all facets of the overall school program. Parents may join the Parent Advisory Council (PAC) or serve as a volunteer in various school capacities. Parents are also urged to schedule periodic conferences with teachers and the administration in order to discuss the academic progress of their child(ren). CITI provides parents with many opportunities to become involved in the academic success of the school, and research indicates that student achievement will increase when the level of parental involvement at the school increases.
Annual Title 1 Public Meeting: September 10, 2024 :
September 10, 2024, CITI will host a Title 1 and Progress Report pickup Night to provide parents and community members with information in regards to the Title 1 budget and how to help volunteer in the classrooms. February 4, 2025, CITI will hold a curriculum night for parents, teachers, and students to discuss expectations for high student achievement, inform parents about their rights under the law and to provide them information that will allow them to be fully active in their child’s education.
Involving Parents in an Organized, Ongoing, and Timely Way:
CITI will hold PAC meetings monthly to share updates about continuous student achievement, how to become more active in the classroom, and upcoming events. Instructional/Curriculum Nights will be scheduled throughout the school year. At this time instructional strategies will be offered to parents on ways to enhance the student’s academic performance. Progress reports will be issued during each nine weeks. Report cards are issued at the end of each nine weeks. The school’s website, Thrillshare Communication system (phone, email, and text), Apptegy App, and social media pages will provide updates as well. Parents will have the district’s Accountability Standards as a rubric to know where their child should be at the beginning, middle, and end of each grade level.
Timely Information:
CITI will communicate with parents in a variety of ways: regularly scheduled PAC meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and progress reports per grading period, report cards, school and/or classroom website, the Thrillshare telephone communication service, and other letters, e-mails, Apptegy messaging app, and flyers as needed. Parents will receive information weekly or as needed information about their child’s performance. Emails, as well as the parent portal are a few ways that a student's progress will be shared with parents. Report cards will be sent home at the end of each nine weeks. Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) are held on a regular basis for qualifying students. Conferences can be requested at any time throughout the school year when a concern arises. Teachers will share the available times during their day to meet with parents to discuss the student’s current performing level and any other pertinent concerns. The administration has an open door policy and is available upon the parent’s request.
Opportunities for Regular Meetings:
Teacher-parent conferences will be scheduled school-wide at least one time a year to focus on the student’s academic needs. At the end of the second nine weeks, teachers will meet with parents of students who are performing below grade level to discuss their academic performance thus far in the school year. Parents have flexible scheduling available to meet with their child’s teacher at any point during the school year.
Providing for Parent Comments:
The parent policy is reviewed yearly. Concerns or suggestions offered by parents may prompt the need to address the parent policy as often as needed. Parents will always have the opportunity to provide input, suggestions or to address concerns. PTO meetings will be held throughout the year for parents to also provide their input or give suggestions on how the school could improve.
School-Parent Student Compact:
CITI will issue accountability compacts at the beginning of school or in accordance with a date as set by school system administration. These compacts specifically outline goals and responsibilities of parents, teachers, students, and ad in order for individual students to reach academic success. A district-wide parent handbook is updated at the beginning of the school year and the parent’s signature is required stating that they’ve read the information about the districts’ guidelines. The district handbooks are available online and hard copies are available in the front office upon request. School wide information referencing rules, guidelines and expectations are listed in the front of the student’s agendas. All documents are offered in Spanish as well.
